Responsible Minerals Initiative

In accordance with the Mitutoyo Group's Corporate Philosophy, we have adopted a policy of "not using minerals from conflict areas that are a source of funding for armed groups" as part of our efforts to procure minerals responsibly.
[Tantalum, Tin, Tungsten, Gold]
  • ・US Dodd-Frank Act
Section 1502 of the Dodd-Frank Act requires companies to disclose their use of minerals in their products and determine if they are sourced in an ethical manner.
It was passed in 2010 to prevent armed groups in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and surrounding regions from benefiting from the sale of these mined minerals.
  • ・EU Conflict Minerals Regulation
The EU Conflict Minerals Regulation (REGULATION (EU) 2017/821) was started to apply on 1 January 2021.
  • In the one of the world’s leading producer of cobalt, the Democratic Republic of Congo and elsewhere, there is a concern pointed out poor working conditions and child labor.
Requests to the supply chain
In the event that we identify minerals that contribute to fund conflicts, we will request our suppliers to cooperate with us to change their procurement to minerals from non-conflict areas, and we work with the entire supply chain to conduct due diligence.
