Mitutoyo releases its new Absolute Coolant Proof Caliper, CD-20GS, a waterproof type digital caliper with 200mm stroke

In May 2001 Mitutoyo Corporation will start shipments of its latest model of the "ABS Coolant Proof Caliper", a waterproof type digital caliper which supports a 200 mm measuring range, to the global markets. This model is a new addition to the "ABS Coolant Proof Caliper", the worldÕs latest generation of waterproof type digital caliper, and starts a lineup of this series. Conventional digital calipers, equipped with static capacitance type sensors, are often unable to perform measurements when their sensor units become contaminated by lubricants or other liquids. Therefore, the operator has to wipe the contaminants off the caliper. The "ABS Coolant Proof Caliper" is tough against contaminants, and it is equipped with an electromagnetic sensor that offers built-in origin and low power consumption, eliminating extra steps of operations. The "ABS Coolant Proof Calipers" are truly the next-generation of digital calipers that allow use with ease in environments such as machining sites, where a large amount of coolant splashes off against the caliper. During the four month period of October 2000 to January 2001, 50,000 pcs. of the ABS Coolant Proof Caliper with 150mm stroke has been already shipped to the domestic and overseas markets. The sales for the first year are expected to greatly exceed the initial target of 100,000 pcs. In responding to a great number of customers who had requested that the ABS Coolant Proof Calipers be made into a series, Mitutoyo has developed a new model, "CD-20GS," with a measuring range of 200mm. This lines it up with the first model, which has a standard measuring range of 150mm. Mitutoyo will continue to respond to the needs of more and more of its customers. Mitutoyo will start shipment of "CD-20GS" on April 23, 2001 in the domestic market, and on May 1, 2001 in the overseas markets. It is expected that 50,000 pcs be sold in the first year.
