Recall (collection and free replacement) of Tire Tread Depth Gages (Series 700)
First of all, thank you for using our Tire Tread Depth Gages (Code No. 700-104/105).
Please be informed that certain of these products are subject to Recall due to a manufacturing defect that affects accuracy of measurement, as detailed below. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you, and we thank you for your cooperation and understanding in collection and free replacement. Details
We have confirmed that several batches of our Tire Tread Depth Gages (Series 700) do not meet the stated instrumental error specification when the gage is zeroed using the recommended procedure. This is due to a manufacturing defect that has displaced the scale stop from the correct position, which in turn causes the contact point to be offset 0.4mm to 0.5mm from the gage reference surface when the main scale is fully retracted, resulting in the offset value adding to the true measurement value when the gage is used.
We would like to resolve this problem by collection and free replacement of all gages affected.
Please contact your local Mitutoyo sales office or Mitutoyo's official selling agents immediately if you have Tire Tread Depth Gages with Serial Numbers as listed below.
