Mitutoyo Corporation (Takatsu-ku, Kawasaki, Kanagawa Japan / President: Toru Nakagawa) herein announces the addition of the new CNC Vision Measuring System the "Quick Vision Active Series" to the family of Quick Vision Systems on April 1st, 2016. This new, lightweight, compact member of the Quick Vision Series features a zoom lens, interchangeable objectives and the option of a built-in touch-probe to enable very accurate measurements to be made in all three-dimensions.

The Quick Vision Series comprises a family of CNC precision measuring machines equipped with an optical unit on which an image sensor is mounted. Non-contact measurement is performed by computer-processing the workpiece images. Since the first release in 1993, this series has been used in various industries including electrical and electronic, medical equipment and pharmaceutical, automotive, and machine parts, to name just a few. Mitutoyo has significantly contributed to quality and productivity improvements for those customers who use our CNC Vision Measuring Systems in measurement of precision parts on their production lines, especially when incorporated in semi-automatic inspection systems.

The Quick Vision Active Series has been developed pursuing user-friendliness and the capability to cover a wide range of applications. Along with the popularization of vision measuring systems, the need for reduction of man-hour/cost in inspection is increasing, and in response to that need the Quick Vision Active Series has been designed to incorporate a zoom lens whose magnification range is optimum for the target applications working in conjunction with a high-definition megapixel color camera.

The Quick Vision Active Series will be exhibited at the 1st Design Engineering & Manufacturing Solutions Expo Nagoya at Portmesse Nagoya (April 19 - 21, 2016) , and INTERMOLD 2016 / Die & Mold Asia 2016 at INTEX OSAKA (April 20 - 23, 2016).

Mitutoyo will continue making contributions to society and the future of manufacturing by producing measuring products that achieve simplicity in operation combined with advanced high-accuracy measurement.

[Features]

Measurement using high-definition color images

A 1.3 megapixel color camera is incorporated. The pixel resolution, which is an important factor in image processing, is enhanced and high-level image detection performance is achieved that easily shows intricate workpiece detail on the monitor.

Interchangeable objective lens zoom unit

The optical system is configured with a combination of a 0.5X - 3.5X zoom lens and a 1X, 1.5X or 2X objective lens to give a maximum magnification of 7X and a magnification ratio of 14:1. The 7:1 ratio zoom lens (8-step variable) is capable of quickly changing magnification under CNC control. Furthermore, the combination of an interchangeable objective with a zoom lens enables measurement to be performed with a choice of a widefield view or higher magnification to cater for various kinds of workpiece.

Full-light, LED illumination unit installed

The Illumination system consists of co-axial, transmitted and ring lighting (with a 4-quadrant switching function), and each type uses high-intensity white LEDs. Low heat-generation, low power consumption and long life are characteristic features of LED illumination that, together with rapid response, make this type of lighting highly suitable for all measurement applications, especially those requiring frequent changes of light intensity.

Space-saving, lightweight structure

The fixed-bridge and moving-table architecture long proven with the conventional QV series, is used for the main unit. With its downsized drive unit, a fairly compact design compared with conventional models of the same measuring range is achieved: the footprint is reduced by 30% and main unit mass by 40% (QV Active 404).

Light weight and compact dimensions help provide the flexibility in factory layout that is a considerable advantage in many situations.

Touch probe function

The touch-trigger probe model complements the standard non-contact vision measurement mode and is the ideal choice for when 3D measurement is required, with the touch-probe enabling accurate measurement of stepped features in the Z axis.
