Mitutoyo Corporation (hereafter "the Company") recognizes that the protection of information that can identify individuals (hereafter "personal information") is a social duty of the Company and an important task for business operations, and is thus committed to implementing the following privacy policy.

Formulation and continuous improvement of compliance program for the protection of personal information

The Company educates its executives and employees about the importance of personal information, has formulated a compliance program for the protection of personal information, and is systematically implementing it. Further, the Company is committed to maintaining and continuously improving this program.

Collection, use and distribution of personal information

Along with establishing a management system for personal information according to operating conditions within the Company, the Company will carry out the collection, use and distribution of personal information in an appropriate manner according to the applicable rules and regulations.

Implementation of safety measures

The Company will devise rational safety measures to ensure the accuracy and the safety of personal information, protecting it from illegal access, leaks, destruction, loss, and alteration.

Respect of rights of information subject

The Company will respect the rights of the information subject as pertaining to personal information, and if the information subject requests disclosure, correction, or deletion of own information, or refuses the uses or distribution of own information, the Company will comply insofar as reasonable in light of conventional wisdom and customs.
5.
Observance of laws pertaining to personal information

The Company will observe laws and ordinances that apply to the handling of personal information. Moreover, the Company will design its compliance program for the protection of personal information so that it reflects such laws and ordinances.

The following outlines major points regarding the handling of the personal information acquired by the Company through its business activities.

Purpose of use of personal information

The personal information acquired by the Company through its business activities may be used for the following purposes by the Company.

Introduction of products handled by the Company (measuring instruments, testing equipment, precision instruments and related software)
2)
Provision of and guidance about after-sales services for the products handled by the Company
3)
Provision of information about exhibitions, events, seminars, etc. regarding products handled by the Company
4)
Marketing surveys (questionnaires, etc.) regarding products handled by the Company and related after-sales services
5)
Communications regarding the Company's meetings, exhibitions, events, and inspection tours of Mitutoyo facilities
6)
Creation and submission of income tax withholding certificates and other related duties, etc.
7)
Responses to shareholders based on the Companies Act, etc.
8)
Clerical work for payment reports concerning shares
9)
Clerical work concerning recruitment, internship, etc.
10)
Clerical work concerning preparation and submission of payment reports of income, fees, contract money and prizes
11)
Clerical work concerning payment reports for real estate usage fees and consideration for real estate acquisition, etc.

Measures for safe management of personal information

The Company will take appropriate safety measures to prevent the loss, destruction, alteration, leak, and illegal access of personal information held by the Company, according to the Privacy Policy and applicable laws and ordinances.

Provision to third parties

The Company will not disclose or provide personal data held by the Company to third parties except in the following cases.

With the permission of the individual concerned

Based upon laws and ordinances
3)
When it is necessary for the protection of human life, body or property and it is difficult to obtain the consent of the individual concerned
4)
When it is especially necessary for improving public health or promoting the healthy raising of children and it is difficult to obtain consent of the individual concerned
5)
Where it is necessary to cooperate for the implementation of operations prescribed by laws and regulations by a government agency or a local public entity or their subcontractor when obtaining the consent of the individual may impede those operations

Subcontracting

The Company may entrust handling of personal data to external operators to the extent necessary for achieving the purpose of its use. In that case, we will select subcontractors with personal information protection system in place, sign contracts concerning protection of personal information and manage them appropriately.

Joint use

Mitutoyo and its group companies * (hereinafter "Mitutoyo Group") may share acquired personal data as follows. However, it will not be shared beyond the range necessary for achieving the purpose of its use.

Should you wish to request disclosure, correction, etc., of your personal information, or request that its use be stopped, etc., please send this request in writing along with a copy of a personal ID with photo and a copy of your certificate of residence. The Company will mail a reply to the address listed on the certificate of residence. Please note that the Company will charge a fee for processing such requests.
