Announcement of the 41st Technology Award from
The Japan Society for Precision Engineering

 

Mitutoyo Corporation won the 41st Technology Award from The Japan Society for Precision Engineering(JSPE) for the "Development of high-speed varifocal lens TAGLENS and its Pulsed Light Source PLS”, which offer enhanced functionality for observation and measurements, exceeding the Depth of Focus limitation of traditional microscopes and imaging systems.

This is Mitutoyo’s sixth Technology Award from The Japan Society for Precision Engineering since our first award in 1981.

Mitutoyo received the award for improving TAGLENS' stability and technological capabilities to apply to a wider range of environmental conditions in industrial applications. Additionally, it was awarded in recognition of the development of the Pulsed Light Source (PLS), which works in tandem with TAGLENS using a unique algorithm and enables high-speed observation and measurements.

Varifocal Lens TAGLENS

TAGLENS-T1 is a varifocal liquid lens providing ultra-high-speed modulation of the focal length. This property of the TAGLENS combined with the ultra-high-speed LED-based pulsed light source (PLS) allow capturing focused images at desired heights as well as a focus stack and 3D shapes. Additionally, this lens system is capable of improving productivity by increasing efficiency and reducing costs through all-in-focus imaging.
